We will be doing short bios on the final 16 girls this week who made it past round 1. Here are the first four we are delving into.

#1 Seed Ky Westbrook vs. #5 Seed Makaila Flannigan
Ky Westbrook
Ky Westbrook graduated from Chandler High School in 2014 and holds the girls' Arizona state record in the 200M (23.27) and the second fastest 100M time ever. Ky was not only fast though. She won the shot Put in Division 1 in 2014 (45-7.75) and the 100M hurdles in the same meet (14.17).
In her senior year (2014) she place 4th in the USATF National Outdoor Championships in the 100M (11.43), 3rd at he prestigious Brooks PR Invitational (11.66), and 3rd in the Adidas Grand Prix (11.51). She never lost the 100M or 200M her senior year and only came in 2nd once in the 100M hurdles (Hohokam Invite).
Her senior year indoor season was almost just as successful. Ky took 5th in both the 55M dash and 60M dash at the New Balance Nationals Indoors and took 1st in the 60M and 200M at the Great Southwest Classic Indoor Invitational.
Ky's junior year was quite outstanding as well, as she took 1st overall in the 100M in the IAAF World Youth Championships, which was the pinnacle of her 2013 season.

Makaila Flannigan
Makaila Flannigan has the 5th best 100M hurdle time in the history of Arizona (13.99) and the 11th best 300M hurdle time in Arizona history (42.61). She graduated from Chandler as well in 2013. Her senior year she won both the 100M hurdles (14.00) and 300M hurdles (42.61) at the Division 1 State Meet. She also jumped a very respectable 18-6.5 to get the bronze that year in the long jump as well.
Her senior indoor season she took 2nd in the 60M hurdles and the long jump at the Great Southwest Classic Indoor Invitational.
Makaila scored in every state meet since her freshman year. She took 4th in the long jump and 3rd in the 300M hurdles in 2010. Took 3rd in the long jump, 2nd in the 300M hurdles, and 3rd in the 100M hurdles in 2011. And won both the 100H and 300H her junior year, as well as placing 2nd in the long jump.

#2 Seed Ma'kayla Dickerson vs. #3 Seed Morgan Foster
Ma'kayla DickersonMa'kayla Dickerson holds the Arizona state high school record in the girls 300M hurdles (41.39), which she ran at the Division 2 Arizona State Meet in 2019. She graduated last year from Betty H. Fairfax High School and had some top times of 12.20 (100M), 24.03 (200M), 55.92 (400M), 14.07 (100H), and a 5-3 high jump to go along with her impressive 300H time.
Ma'kayla nearly took a full second off her 100H time from freshman to senior year (14.91 to 14.07) and over a full second off her 300H times from freshman year (42.95 to 41.39).
At last year's state meet (Division 2) she took 2nd in the 200M (24.03), 2nd in the 100H (14.44), and 1st in the 300H (41.39). Her junior year mirrored her senior year as she had the same places in all three events, plus winning the high jump at 5-5.
Ma'kayla had a lot of range and was even able to put down a 2:24 800M her junior year - not too shabby for a sprinter.

Morgan Foster
Yet another Chandler Wolf howling at the competition. Morgan is 2nd on the all-time AZ 800M (2:06.13), 3rd in the 1600M (4:47.03), and 15th in the 3200M (10:34.38). Morgan graduated in 2019 with a host of accolades and accomplishments.
She won both the 800M and 1600M at the Division 1 State Meet last year, as well as finishing 3rd overall in the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in a very impressive 2:07.75. Her indoor season senior year she took first in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix high school mile in 4:50.13.
Morgan's junior year was nothing to sneeze at either. She won the 800M state meet, but also took 3rd overall in the Brooks PR Invitational in a great time of 2:08.38.
In fact, Morgan only lost the 800M once in the Arizona State Meet and that was in her freshman year where she still took 2nd.
Other notable performances for Morgan was winning the Chandler Rotary in the 1600M (2019) and the 800M (2018).
