Meet Information

Location:
Skunk Creek Landfill - 3165 W. Happy Valley Road Map attached

Facilities:

There will be porta potties available, but no locker room or showers.

Parking:

Buses See Maps. You will drop off athletes at 3165 W. Happy Valley Road and then proceed to
OConnor HS at 35th Ave and Happy Valley Road for parking. Please right turn only (dangerous left turn)
from the facility and use the roundabout to change directions back to 35th Ave.

Vans/Mini-Buses Coaches driving vans or mini-buses drop off athletes at 3165 W. Happy Valley Road
and then proceed to 29th Ave to park along the fence line near the starting line and spectator entry (see
map). Please do not park by finish area. This area needs to be kept free and clear for buses to turn
around.

Spectators Please direct all your parents and spectators to use the park & ride lot on 29th Ave
just south of Happy Valley Road. Police will be directing traffic to the lot.

Athletic Trainers:
There will be a trainer on site for emergency and post race issues. Pre-race treatment, taping, etc.
should be taken care of by the coach or your schools trainer.

Awards:
Medals will be awarded to the top fourteen (14) in each section. A Sectional Team Champion plaque
will be awarded. Awards will take place in the Pavilion.

Course:
The course is 3.1 miles on the old landfill. The course is granite, some pavement, hills, and some loose
rock.

Course walk through:

8:00 am to 9:45 am on Saturday November 2.

Rules:

Rules are those of the current edition of the National Federation Track and Field/Cross Country Rules
and Records, AIA Constitution and Bylaws, and these tournament instructions.

Entry Procedure:
Entries are to be submitted online at www.athletic.net . Entry Deadline is Monday, October 28 at 6:00
pm. Changes to your entries will be allowed on race day. Each team must designate no more than seven
runners. IF you do NOT have an athletic.net account please allow several days for your account to be
set.

State Qualification:
Each Sectional race will qualify the top 50% of FULL (5 >) teams entered on athletic.net and from their
Section. Teams must be entered by the deadline date of Monday October 28, 2013. If a Section has an
odd number of entered teams the number of qualifying teams will be rounded up. Example: 11 Sectional
teams entered on athletic.net will qualify 6 teams.

Each Sectional race will qualify the top 25 finishers regardless of their teams placement. Example: If all
of the top 25 finishers are members of an already qualified team then no additional finishers will qualify.

State Entries:
All Entries for the State Cross Country Championships are to be made on line at www.athletic.net .
Deadline for entries is Monday, November 4, 2013 by 5:00 PM. For time schedule and more information
on the state meet visit www.aiaonline.org and click on Coaches then click on Cross Country.

Reminder We have 53 teams competing so we ask your cooperation in following all of these
directions. Also, we ask that you make your athletes and spectators aware that this race site is an active
landfill. This means absolutely no smoking anywhere within the gates of the facility. There are also
several round containers at ground level with metal lids. These are not trash cans. Please make sure no
one touches these containers. Please remove all your trash. The City of Phoenix graciously allows the
use of this facility and we would like to maintain the relationship.
