ARIZONA HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD
60th ANNUAL MEET OF CHAMPIONS
Sponsored by: Queen Creek and Brophy College Prep High School
Wednesday May 15, 2013 5:50 pm (Girls pole vault beginning at 4:30 pm)
Location: Brophy College Preparatory 4701 N Central Phoenix, AZ 85102
Congratulations! You have been invited to the Arizona Meet of Champions, where you will compete against the top three individuals in your event from each division of the Arizona State Championships along with the top 20 of the entire combined state rankings regardless of division.
GREAT SOUTHWEST MEET: All athletes that are going to the Great Southwest: We will have an organizational meeting at the Meet of Champions, starting at 4:00 PM in the team room on the Northwest side of the track. We will have some light snacks provided and please bring a t-shirt for the t-shirt exchange. We will also organize relays and set agendas for our whole team in general. This meeting is mandatory, so please let Coach Stephen Carson 480-213-5726 E-mail carsonsa@att.blackberry.net or Eric Bolus 602-826-7536 E-mail eric.bolus@dvusd.org know if you will be having trouble attending the meeting.
Who: We want State Champions and the next two places from all classes or divisions, but we also want a STRONG field. So, if an athlete is among the top 20 of the state all classifications combined, plan on the MOC as your next event after the state track meet. This includes relays. The exception is the girls and boys pole vault. Only State Champions and any girl in the state that has cleared 11 feet or any boy that has cleared 14 feet are invited. The girls opening height is 10 feet and the boys opening height is 13 feet.
Events/Payment: We will have all Arizona running events including the relays and all field events. We have to charge (ten dollars per athlete not per event), sense we do not have an active Arizona Coaches Association right now to help foot the bill. Please pay Coach Shaun Hardt at the state track meet and make all checks out to Queen Creek Athletics Boosters, memo Track. If you are having problems you can pay Coach Hardt at The Meet of Champions, but would really prefer it before then. Queen Creek High School mailing address 22149 East ocotillo Rd Queen Creek AZ 85142

Awards: Medals to the top three, 4 Trophies- Outstanding Female Track, Outstanding Female Field Outstanding Male Track, Outstanding Male Field- Trophies determined by a Performance Chart based on 1 event. Bill Bakley will update the Trophy Performance Chart, which he created in the 1996.
Entering Athletes: Please register athletes at www.athletic.net COACHES NEED TO DO THIS. Arizona Meet of Champions has already been created in the site and you will find it when searching for May 15th meets in Arizona. Please do not create the meet again. Coaches: can enter the athletes even though this is an individual decision on the part of the athlete. Any questions, Contact Bob Morris robert.morris@guhsdaz.org (cell) (623) 694-2405 (school) (623) 915-8752. It is an AIA event, therefore, PLEASE WEAR school uniform.
Admission charge: Five dollars per person or ten dollars per family. All coaches get in free.
The Meet of Champions (MOC) is an AIA/USATF Sanctioned Event--a continuation of the Luke-Greenway Meet of Champions which was held from the 1950's to 2002. The aim is to provide a forum at which the best athletes from each state meet compete in a head-to-head finals only competition. Athletes who won their event or placed top three at each of the state meet divisions are automatically eligible for entry into the MOC. The next top twenty performances in the state combined all classifications complete the rest of the field of athletes.
*Track event athletes must check in to the Clerk 15 minutes prior to the race; field event check-in is at the competition site, 30 minutes prior to start of event. Starting heights for high jump: boys - 6', girls -410 and for pole vault: boys - 13'0, girls 100 Contestants in the horizontal jumps and weight events will have 4 attempts. Implement weigh ins will start at 4:30pm. Girls pole vault weigh in at 4pm, boys to follow. Field events, as specified above, will begin competition at 6:00PM sharp. Be early to check in and warm up. No warm-ups after start of event. 30 minutes between genders.
Protests for running events must be filed with Al Nelson and field events Rob Johnson.
