TED JAMES Memorial Track Invitational
Dear Coach:
We are extremely proud to host the 87th Ted James Douglas Track Invitational.
WHEN:
Saturday, March 3rd, 2018. The coaches meeting will be from 8:30-9:00 there will be no corrections. Please, see the attached tentative schedule for more details. We will reseed those heats as needed.
WHERE:
Douglas High School track and field stadium. Our facilities include an eight-lane all-weather track with nine lanes on the homestretch. There are bathrooms and limited dressing areas at the track.
FEES:
An entry fee of $300.00 per school (boys' and girls' teams) will be assessed to help defray the cost of awards.
AWARDS:
Awards will include individual medals for the top six places but we will score up to eighth place, trophies for the individual relay champions, meet champions and runner-ups. We will also present plaques for the Outstanding Athlete for both the track events and field events, female and male.
ENTRIES:
You are limited to four individuals per event. Due to the large number of entries in the 3200m, 1600m and the 800m we will limit the number to three. Entries will be made through Direct Athletics. More information will be sent. There will be no corrections on the day of the meet. All entries are final. You may make entries, additions and scratches on Direct Athletics until 11 pm on Thursday, March 1st, 2018.
NO EXCEPTIONS!
We will not be offering Javelin this year but will be in the future. We feel training and facility updates are needed before implementing.
STARTING HEIGHTS:
The girls' high jump will begin at 4'2" and the boys at 5'2". The long jump and triple jump competitions will be conducted as open pit with an hour and half time limit. The boys pole vault will begin at 80" and the girls pole vault will begin at 50.
In high hurdles nine lanes, the 100m lanes, and the 200 there will be eight lanes.
All field events will run as finals. Each athletes participating will get 4 attempts.
WHAT TO BRING:
You will need to provide your batons, vaulting poles, measuring tapes, and towels. Your athletes may use their own implements as we will weigh their implements. The weigh-ins will be at the new throws venue located behind the gymnasium which is east of the track at 9:00.
ADMISSION:
There will be a $4.00 admission fee charged for all non-team members. Each team is allowed two managers. A.I.A. passes will be honored. The admission price is good for the whole day.
CONCESSION:
There will be a concession stand at the meet site for your convenience.
There will be a t-shirt stand with shirts ranging from $14.00 to $20.00 for your convenience.
OTHER INFORMATION:
A practice and stretching area will be provided.
A trainer will be available throughout the meet.
