THUNDERBIRD Dave Doerrer INVITATIONAL
To: Athletic Directors & Girls and Boys Cross Country Coaches

We would like to extend an invitation to your cross country team to participate in the
2020 Thunderbird Invitational Cross Country meet.
This meet is sponsored by Thunderbird High School and is the oldest and
longest running Invitational in the state. The Mountain View Park course is a true cross country course and one of the best spectator courses in the state. The last 800 meters around the park is super exciting for the athletes and the spectators who are right on top of the action.
We have a special event:
7:45 a.m. Alumni and Friends Run Alumni, coaches, parents and friends run the course.
Coaches, please encourage former athletes, parents and friends to participate
in the run. Just sign the waiver and enjoy the run.
The Date: October 3, 2020
The Place: Mountain View Park. 9901 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85021.
(Take the Black Canyon Freeway (I-17) exit east on Peoria
to 7th Ave. Turn south and follow it to the park.)
The Course: 2.8 miles of grass and dirt, with a few hills. A good course for runners and spectators!
This meet has one of the most exciting finishes for spectators and coaches of any meet in the state!

The Entry Fee: $175.00/school (girls and boys), $125.00 for a single team, payable in advance
to Thunderbird High School. Please register early to reserve your spot.
Coaches meeting at 8:15 am near the finish line. (Hospitality table will be available for coaches.)
8:30 A.M. Girls Novice FRESHMAN & SOPHMORE GIRLS
9:05 A.M. Boys Novice FRESHMAN & SOPHMORE BOYS
9:40 A.M. Girls Open JUNIOR & SENIOR GIRLS
10:15 A.M. Boys Open JUNIOR & SENIOR BOYS
11:00 A.M. (Approximately) A first place trophy will be awarded in each race.
Medals will be given for 2nd through 35th place.
No team score will be calculated
Parking of buses is not allowed in the park or along 7th Ave.
Please park all buses at Mountain View Elementary School, 801 W. Peoria Ave.
There will be a sound system playing music throughout the morning.
Spectators and athletes may purchase food and beverages from the Snack Bar.
Tee Shirts will be available to purchase.
An athletic trainer will be on site.
