DI State Meet Preview: Who Can Challenge The Wolves?

Sprints

The sprinting events are looking to be up for grabs this season as 12 guys have run under 11 seconds for the 100m and 7 have run sub-22 for the 200m. Christopher Russell (Cesar Chavez, Sr.) is looking to take a shot at the 100m title, against D1 heavy-hitters like Ta'Mir Waters (Sr.) and Jaheim Brown-Taylor (So.) from Chandler, David Eppinger (Perry, Jr.), and Quinton Powell (Pinnacle, Jr.). We could also see some big surprises out of Octavius Thomas (Tucson Magnet, So.), Kendahl Johnson (Sandra Day O' Connor, Sr.) or Adam Knuff (Corona Del Sol, Sr.).
On the girl's side, Tucson Magnet High School's Neysia Howard (Sr.) will be looking to defend her no. 1 position in D1 against Zaire Chest (Chandler, Sr.), Dorian Nesby (Valley Vista, Jr.), and the returning D1 Girls' 400m Champ, Morgan Parzych (Sr.) of Hamilton. While their specialties lie on opposite sides of the sprints, the event to watch will be the 200-meter dash for which five D1 girls have run under 25-seconds.
