DI State Meet Preview: Who Can Challenge The Wolves?

Distance

Leo Daschbach (So.) of Highland High School is looking to take the state title for the 800m and 1600m. He will definitely have company in both events with Millennium super-frosh Alexander Rafferty (Fr.) breakout status after a 1:55 800m race at Bradshaw Mountain, second only to Leo (1:54). In the 1600m, Jacob Lewis (Sr.) of Boulder Creek will be looking to challenge Daschbach as well as many of the other competitors in this event. Desert Vista's Aksel Laudon (Sr.) and Habtamu Cheney of Desert Vista High School will both be looking to end their seasons with State Titles in the 1600m and 3200m.

Chandler teammates Morgan Foster (Jr.) and Haley Wolf (Sr.) are returning State Champions and favorites for Titles in the Division I girls distance races. Morgan set the State record for 800m as a freshman with her PR of 2:07 and doubled in the 800m and 1600m last year. Meanwhile her teammate Haley Wolf is the state leader for 1600m (4:58) and 3200m (10:50) and the returning State Champion for 3200m. Both of them plan to tackle the 1600m as well as the 800m. Caroline McLeskey (So.) of Highland and Cami Merickel (Fr.) of Pinnacle High School will look to give the wolves a run for their money in the distance races.
