Hammer Throw: 104-4.24 ft.
Shot Put: 33-1.25 ft.
When did you first get involved with track and field? How long have you been thowing:
I actually started out as a runner when I was 7 years old, but I was never particularly good at it. When I was about 10 I met a prospective Olympic discus thrower, Summer Pierson, and I instantly fell in love with throwing. She was my first coach and a great mentor.
What is a typical training week like for you?
I lift weights 3-4 times a week, I do a little running, and I throw around 6 days a week.
What are your goals for the upcoming track season?
I hope to reach the high 130’s this season.
What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?
I have a pretty busy schedule. I compete in a dual meet nearly every week, and I go to an invitation almost every week as well. The out of state meets I will be competing in this season are the Arcadia Invitational and Mt. Sac Relays. After my school season ends I will be competing in USATF meets until the end of the summer.
What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?
Work hard. Some days are good and some days are bad; but if you don’t give up, rest assured you will be better than the person who has.
If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?
Practice, practice, practice. Throwing is a very technical event, so hard work is the key to success.
Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?
My coach Sarah Walker is a model for me in hard work, perseverance, and enthusiasm. She has tirelessly worked with me to get me to the spot I am today and I owe a lot of my success to her
How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?
