What are your goals for the upcoming season:

My goals are to become a family with my team and be the best I can be everyday.

How is your  training going?   Your favorite workout?

Training has been awesome.  I love any workout with my team, but my two favorites include trail runs and our half-progression run, half-track workouts.  I love the scenery on trails, and progression/track workouts are challenging, but I enjoy knowing that my teammates and I become stronger through them.

How long have you been running and how did you get started:

I’ve been running since 6th grade.  In 5th grade, my dad took me on a run with him and that’s when I decided to do cross country the next year.

What are your favorite and toughest courses to run in State and out of State?

In state, my favorite course is Twilight, because the course is relatively flat, grassy, and super fast!  Out of state, my only race has been Woodbridge in Costa Mesa, California.  Woodbridge is my favorite race of all time because the course was completely flat and extremely fast; at one point I felt like I was flying!

So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?

Woodbridge has been both my favorite race and favorite memory so far in my high school career.  The race was amazing, and I really enjoyed the bonding experience with my teammates, from hanging out in the hotel to having fun on the beach!

What do you look forward to the most this season?

At the beginning of the season, I was looking forward to training hard with my teammates and being the best I can be.  I have greatly improved through the season, and now I am excited to see how far our hard work will take us!

Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?

I would consider my best running accomplishment to be my half marathon, which I ran in 7th grade with a time of 1:51:27.  I also was first in my age group (and the only person in my age group)!  I feel like my half marathon set the foundation for my running career; knowing that I could train at that volume made it easier for me to increase the length of my long runs.

When you are not running , what do you like to do?

When I’m not running, I love to spend time with family and friends, reading, and traveling, especially to Colorado and Rhode Island.

Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?

I’ve been lifting weights in PE two times a week, and other than that I cross train when given permission; I love riding my bike!

How have your coaches influenced you overall?

All of my coaches have had major influences on me, especially Coach Messer and Coach Jones.  Coach Messer has taught me to be the best I can be every single day, to trust the process, because it never fails, and to believe in myself.  Coach Jones has been running with me since day one of summer training, and she’s helped me to become the runner I am now.

Shout-Outs:

A shout-out to God, for blessing me with my talent and incredible team!  And to my dog, Baxter- thanks for not eating my shoes.

Favorite Pre-race Meal?

Pasta!!  I love having pasta dinners with my team the evening before a race.

I train in Mizunos and I race in Saucony flats.

What time of day do you run?

Most of the season I ran at 5 am to escape the heat, but now we have switched to afternoon practices.
