Why did you settle on NAU/What other schools were in play?

I decided to run at NAU because of the blue collar attitude they have established up there. I just want to work hard and get better. That's another reason I chose NAU. I think it is the best place to see how good of a runner I can become. That's all it is about for me: getting better. I have been wanting to run at NAU since my freshman year so I hadn't really looked at many other schools but some other consideration were Colorado School of Mines, GCC, ASU, and Pacific University.

What advantages do you think going to a national powerhouse like NAU will afford you?

Going to NAU will afford me many advantages. Obviously the elevation will make me a much better runner. Not only that, but they have such a great team with so much talent and guys who just want to work hard and get better. Being around those kind of guys will force me to be a better runner.

What has been your favorite high school memory?

My favorite high school memory is definitely making it to the podium for the 1600m at state this year. It was such an awesome race with everyone fighting as hard as they could and laying it all on the line. Those are the best kind of races and plus I beat my previous PR by 5 seconds which was exciting.

What is something you have learned from running HS track?

I have learned a lot from high school track. One thing I've learned in high school track is that throwing up is just a part of the experience.

Who is your running hero and why?

As cliche as it may be my running hero would have to be Steve Prefontaine. I must have watched "Without Limits" at least 100 times in my life and have admired him since I was in kindergarten. I guess another hero could be Carlos Villarreal because he's a beast haha
