Desert Vista Girls Win Woodbridge Classic!

Arizona Results Merge From Woodbridge

The Desert Vista girls showed their national worth this weekend winning the sweeptakes races at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic in California against Great Oak and rest of top teams. Desert Vista put 4 girls under 17 minutes on the 3 mile course at Siverlakes Sports Park in Norco led by Haley Wolf with a fifth place finish of 16:40.

Rounding out the top 5 for Desert Vista was Emily Crall (9th, 16:48), Brooklyn Christofis (15th, 16:51), Baylee Jones (18th, 16:54), and Amanda Davis (31st, 17:13) for a team score of 49 points and average of 16:49. Only 31 seconds separated their top 5.


Meanwhile, Rio Rico's Allie Schadler won the varsity rated race in a time of 16:26 to finish 36 seconds ahead of her closest competition. Her sister Samantha was 3rd in the same race with a time of 17:09.

The Deserta Visa boys also held their own in the elite sweepstakes division race garnering a 4th place team finish averaging 15:04 as a squad on the 3 mile course. Habtamu Cheney (14:32), Chris D'Angelo (14:50), and Reece Donihi (14:51) all broke 15 minutes for Desert Vista, while Perry's Anthony Haren (14:55) also joined them under 15 from Arizona in the sweepstakes race.

Buena's Manny Olivio was the race winner of the Varsity B Blue division race with a swift time of 14:56 in a close battle with two other runners just under 15 minutes on his heels.
