Bowen Martin has stepped into the helm of the Sand Devil boys cross country squad. At the beginning of this month, he opened his junior cross-country season with a with a runner-up finish at the Peaks Invitational. A week later he followed with another runner-up finish at the Larry Burgess Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bowen has PRs of 9:41.88 for 3200m, 4:34.81 for 1600m and 16:16.3 for 5k.

Where are you from and when did you begin running?
I am from Page, Az. I began running in the 8th grade.
What does a typical training week look like for you?
Medium to long run Monday & Wednesday, workout Tuesday & Thursday, pre-race Friday, race Saturday, off Sunday
Do you like to listen to music before meets? If so what's your playlist?
My favorite song to listen to before a race is "Stayin' Alive" by the BeeGees
Which meet do you enjoy racing the most?
Mt. SAC Invite because of the hills

What's your favorite thing to eat after a race?
If the race went well, a well-deserved ice cream or slushie is needed.
Do you have any role models on the team or from years past? If so, what advice did they give you?
My older brother is my role model. He always tells me, "Hard work always wins over talent because talent only gets you so far!"
What's your favorite subject in school?
I don't have a favorite subject in school, but my favorite thing about school is lunch.

I love wake surfing with my family on Lake Powell
