Arizona's mid-distance phenom Morgan Foster made her verbal commitment on Monday night to the Stanford Cardinal. Foster has a 4.67 weighted G.P.A. as a student athlete for Chandler High School.
The two-time 800m State Champion holds the Girls 800m State record of 2:07.06 from her freshman season. In addition to being recognized at home, Foster has been invited to race at Brooks PR where she's placed 4th and then 3rd in the Elite Girls 800m fields of the past two years.
As a freshman she placed 6th in the D1 Girls race at the AIA Cross Country State Championships. Though she has not experienced similar outcomes over the past two cross-country seasons.
This season she's run a season best time of 17:37 over 5km at Tumbleweed Park and will return to the course tomorrow for the Chandler City Meet.

How did you narrow your choices and what did you want out of a prospective university?
Going to a school of high academic standing was very important to me. The other important piece is having a coach that I have confidence in and a positive team culture.
What were some of the other schools you investigated and when did you decide that Stanford University was right for you?
My final 5 were Stanford, Georgetown, Villanova, Texas, and UNC. Being on the Stanford campus felt right. The team was amazing and it just felt like a perfect fit!
Stanford has Coach Miltenberg as the director of track and field and Coach DeBole as the Women's Head XC Coach. Did you meet with them and what do you like about the Cardinal distance program?
I did meet with both of them while I was on my visit. I loved how passionate they were and I could tell they were genuinely excited about me as a prospective student athlete! I like that every athlete has a unique training plan.
Have you decided on a major and if not, what interests you academically?
I am undecided but I'm interested in political science and public policy.
What are you looking forward to most about living in Palo Alto?
I'm excited to move to a new place and to get away from the Arizona heat!!
