Girls 1600 Section 2 - Returning Champ Showcases Speed A Week Out From State
Heat 2 of the Girls 1600m featured Caroline McLeskey (Highland, Jr.) the returning D1 Girls' State Champion for the event, and boy was she prepared to let it rip just one week before the AIA State Championship. She dropped the pack with a 68-second first lap. Though she slowed down over the next three laps, McLeskey held on to clock in at 4:56. Taylor Lovell the Perry superfrosh finished runner-up with a new lifetime-best of 5:18, now ranked among the top-five freshman in the State.
