Highland junior Crewe Resendez in the large schools varsity boys race at The Western Equinox XC Festival at Freestone Park in Gilbert. Resendez finished in second in 15:56.30, recording his fastest time of the season.

Even with a handful of the state's top athletes taking a rest break after the Woodbridge Classic and Mt. Carmel Invitational, The Western Equinox XC Festival produced three of the state's top 20 times. Red Mountain junior Matthew Hamilton picked up his first overall victory of the season after winning the junior race in the season opener at The Chandler Invitational.
