HelloOoOo Milesplit! :) its been a long time since I have blogged, so let me fill you in on the past few months of my life, they have been crazy!
I am super excited/happy to say that I am OFFICIALLY a Stanford Cardinal! My acceptance letter came in the mail today, and that made it feel even more real than the signing process! Regarding my decision that I made in January, I have never felt so confident that this is the road that I am supposed to be taking in my life. My visit in January felt so right that I committed right then and there! Ever since my visit I have kept in contact with my future coaches and team mates and that is making me even more eager to begin my collegiate running career. I can't wait to go to cross country camp August 28th in Mammoth, California, where I will not only get in some killer training, but I will have a chance to meet my fellow freshman team mates, and reunite with everyone else! Soon after we return from camp, classes begin in September. I am itching to see what I can do at Stanford on and off the course in the fall!
I'm sure you all have heard of the rapidly spreading disease that is affecting seniors at an alarming rate, commonly known as "senoritis." I'm afraid I am beginning to show some minor symptoms, but nothing too serious! (haha) I have really been focusing on keeping my grades high this second semester, and let me tell you, it's not easy! Although with the motivation that I am recieving from my team mates and parents, I'm stayin' on track! (no pun intended) I thought our teachers would show some remorse with the year coming to a close, finalizing college applications, and upcoming AP testing, but no, not at Xavier! It is really important to me that I leave Xavier on a high note, so I am going to continue to try to excel in the classroom! Even though I am extremely excited for college, leaving Xavier behind will definiltey be bittersweet. This year I've come to know how blessed I am to be apart of the Xavier/ Brophy community, but under some of the hardest circumstances, when we lost our classmate and friend, Robby, he will always be in our hearts.
Up until a couple weeks ago, I had probably one of the best blocks of training under my belt out of all the six years I have been running. Unfortunately, I did happen to choose a sport that would eventually take a toll on my body, especially after competing competitively for six years! I began to feel some pain in my right shin when running, so I decided to take the safe route and get an MRI. I had shin splints last fall before Footlocker West, but those disappeared after a couple days of cross training and therapy. I have been cross training like crazy lately, and I am continuing to look at this bump in the road in a positive way and take it as a challenge! This past weekend, I will admit it tugged at my heart to watch the elite mile gun go off at the Chandler Rotary Invitational, and not be on the line beside my team mate. However, to watch my fellow gator (little Fakler) do SO well, was the high light of my weekend :) I'm going to tell you all now, you better look out for her these next four years, because shes going to be amazing! I was also glad I could make myself useful during the boy's elite mile awards and hold Steve's papers while he recieved his medal, thanks Magnuson!
As the season continues, I will be workin' hard in the pool, on the bike and the elliptical until I am all healed up, but JT will be on the track again in no time! :) I want to wish everyone the best of luck, and continued success in your track seasons, and remember to just have fun! I will see you all out on the track! love, Jess
