Arizona Boys Performer of the Week (Mar. 30-Apr. 5)

After another week of track & field action in Arizona, it's time to vote for the MileSplit Arizona boys performer of the week.

Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.

This Week's Nominees:

Kadyn Hysong, Shadow Mountain High School (Arizona): Swept three events at the Westside Invitational, winning the pole vault (16-9), 100 meters (11.13), and placing third in the long jump (21-3). The #1 sophomore in Arizona in the pole vault cleared a height that topped a field of 15 competitors. His 100-meter victory came in a loaded field of 39 runners.

Zarian RodriguezHamilton High School (Arizona): Clocked a new PR of 4:11.00 in the 1600 at the Scottsdale Distance Classic, improving from his previous best of 4:11.61 set last year at the same meet. The victory came against the most competitive 1600m field in Arizona. 

Malachi Joyner, Williams Field High School (Arizona): Posted a shot put PR of 60-3 at Just Us, breaking his previous mark of 59-10 from April. He also won the discus with a throw of 168-5, completing a sweep of both throwing events at the meet.

Micah Newkirk, Valley Christian High School (Arizona): Ran a new 800-meter PR of 1:52.47 at the Oregon Relays, improving from his previous best of 1:53.88 set in February at the Thunder Invite. He also competed in the 1600 meters, clocking 4:15.89 in another competitive field.

Mark Smith, Williams Field High School (Arizona): Won the 100 meters at Nightmare @ The Nest with a time of 10.56, taking the victory in a field of 43 sprinters. The junior leads all underclassmen in Arizona in the event.
