Brophy AMDG Invitational

The inagural decathlon style meet (plus relays) was a huge success for the athletes and the fans.  The meet was set in the same style as the Nike Outdoor Team Nationals with points assigned to times and distances.   With this type of meet each athlete tries for the fastest time and longest distance in order to gather the most points for their team.

Many of the athletes set goals coming into the meet and the crowd was there to encourage...........and they did!

The final individual event of the night was the 1600 and the entire crowd gathered in land 5 around the track to get up close and personal with the runners.  Sarah Fakler (Xavier) was trying to break 5 minutes on her first race of the season and almost made it as she was only 1.25 seconds off.  Likewise Will Firth (Brophy) was making an attempt to break 4:20 and finished in 4:22.47.

The relaxed atmosphere of the meet and the engagement of the crowd made it a fun night for all!

Sarah Fakler, Tommy Williams (Brophy) with his 1:56.12 800 meter run and Devon Allen (Brophy) with his 48.73 400 meter dash, all moved into the #1 spot on the Arizona leader board.  Allen is currently ranked US#9 in the 400 and Tommy Williams is ranked US#9 in the 800.
