This Week's Nominees:
Yohanes VanMeerten, Flagstaff High School (Arizona): A 45.7-second margin separated the senior from the rest of the 305-runner field at The Peaks, where he crossed the line first in 16:01.20 over 5K. That time stands No. 2 of 2,232 athletes in MileSplit's database at Buffalo Park since 2019.
Liam Keffer, ALA Ironwood (Arizona): The 5K field of 84 at the Rich River Rattler Invitational was no match for a 16:40.10 clocking that produced a 42.2-second winning margin..
Daequan Tigue, Deer Valley High School (Arizona): A senior covered 5K in 16:23.31 to win Duel In the Desert 26 outright, finishing more than two minutes ahead of the next runner among 63 finishers.
Devin LeVander, ALA West Foothills High School (Arizona): Just 1.8 seconds decided the win at the 32nd Annual Chandler XC Invite, where a freshman crossed first in 15:16.70 out of 173 finishers over 5K.
Damien Chavez, Buena High School (Arizona): A junior won the Rich River Rattler Invitational 5K in 16:19.40, beating the field of 74 by 11.8 seconds. The clocking also improved on a prior mark of 16:48.83 on this course by 29.4 seconds.
