Meet Information
Westwood High School is pleased to host another competitive track meet this season. More finalist, no prelims, individual awards, team awards, great atmosphere, organized and timely.
The meet will be held at Westwood High School on Thursday, April 13th of 2017
No Prelims! The Hohokam format allows athletes to focus more on performance rather than trying to survive prelims and finals. Additionally. The overall goal is to have more athletes competing to qualify for state.
For the 2nd year we will have exhibition javelin competition and Disabled athlete competition (100m). The exhibition javelin will be contested after the morning high jump is finished. The javelin will be Open Invite to all but will be limited.
In the Sprints and Hurdles the top 14 seed times will go straight to finals in the Evening session and NOT run prelims. The top 2 performers from sprints and hurdles Early session will also advance to the evening finals. Finals for Sprints and Hurdles will be seeded according to time with the fastest 8 in heat 2, and the next fastest 8 in the first heat. In the distance events the top 24 will run in the Evening Session. The field events will be competed in flights with prelims and finals. Top 12 in field events will advance to finals. Entry marks must come from 2017 Invitational meets (All exceptions need to be approved by Meet Director). The second page of this letter contains a tentative time schedule for your review. The entry fee is $350 total for boys and girls teams ($175 each).
We had to turn away team last year. PLEASE CONFIRM THAT YOUR TEAM (BOYS AND GIRLS) IS PLANNING ON ATTENDING THIS MEET. E-mail your confirmation to sthathaw@mpsaz.org by Friday, March 24th. If we do not hear back from you, we will assume that you are not coming and will open it up to other schools that would like to attend.
