My goals this upcoming track season is to PR in all my events and make a track season I will never forget.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

Mentally I prepare for my race by coming up with a race plan I think of a reachable goal and I tell myself I can and will do what I planned. I don’t think of myself of having superstitions but I try and keep my warm ups pretty much the same.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

I would tell young runners to keep working hard and if they aren’t working hard, start. Talent can only get you so far and you will definitely see the results if you train smart and if you train hard.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

If I were to attribute my success to one thing it would be learning the value of hard work early. I was taught when I was much younger that hard work will be the one thing that will set me apart from everyone else.  And I took that to heart in everything I did.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

A lot of the older seniors from last year from Highland became my role models like Logan Wolfe and Kristi Rush. The work they put in pushed me to try harder in what I did. From running with me to being my best friends I aspire to be like them. In both their accomplishments and how welcome they made everyone feel.  Not only do I look up to the older runners that have graduated I look up to my coach and trust him.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in 5 events the 800, 1600, 2mile, 4x400 relay, and 4x800 relay. My favorite races would have to be the 4x400 and the 800

What are 3 things we don't know about you?

  1. I used to  play soccer and I was on the Highland team this year and can do a flip throw with the ball.
  2. I have an older brother that just returned from an LDS mission and one that is currently on an LDS mission
  3. When I am running in practice my clothes have to match. From my sports bra to my socks everything is color coordinated
