When did you first get involved with track and field? How long have you been running:
I first got involved with Track and Field my Freshmen year. I was a novice runner, but decided I wanted to participate in sports. Turns out I loved running after joining Cross Country, which lead me to do Track.
What is a typical training week like for you?
A typical training week consists of: Mountian Monday, Taper-off Tuesday, Winning Wednesday, Track-training Thursday, Free-run Friday, and Strenuous Saturday.
What are your goals for the upcoming track season?
My goals for this track season are to place in state for the mile, 2 mile, and qualify for the relays.
How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race? Do you have any superstitions?
In order to mentally prepare myself for a race I share laughs and pep talks with my amazing team mates and coach, and then we all finish with a nice prayer. I always wear my lucky batman socks, and write my favorite bible verse on my arm for good luck.
What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?
This season is looking like its going to be full of blessings and wonderful memories. I’m excited to compete and see how well I can do.
What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?
For young runners who aspire to be at the top I would advise them to always have faith in themselves, and run with heart.
If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?
I attribute my success to God, for all that he has blessed me with. From talent to opportunity.
Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?
I look up to many runners, some on my team and others my own competition.
How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?
I compete in 4 events, which are: 3200, 1600, 4x8, and 4x4. My favorites are the relays because I love running for/with my teammates.
What are 3 things we don't know about you?
- I only run in Nike shoes.
- Batman is my favorite.
- My favorite color is teal.
Best thing your coach ever said to you?
“When you’re not working hard, someone else is, and that’s who beats you.”
