When did you first get involved with track and field? How long have you been throwing:
I started throwing for the first time freshman year.
What is a typical training week like for you?
The beginning of a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are typically the heavy work days. If there is a invitational on that Saturday, Thursday and Friday are shorter days and less throws just to feel the right movements.
What are your goals for the upcoming track season?
Throughout the season I have set new personal record goals, but the final goal is to place at the state track meet and be somewhere in the mid 160’s.
How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race? Do you have any superstitions?
The day of a meet is a very relaxed or a “slow boil” for me I will go about my day at school and once it is over, I will put in the headphones and get music going. And in the back pocket of my track shorts I have to have my cross necklace.
What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?
In the season we still have a few big invitational’s one of which being Chandler Rotary and the other out of state one is the Arcadia invite that I will be competing at for the first time.
What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?
I would just tell them to continue to work hard and set goals and don’t quit until they are met, but once you met them don’t feel satisfied make more and strive to meet those ones too.
If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?
A big role model is my coach Mrs. Walker who is an amazing athlete and an even better person and coach.
Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?
My mentor would have to be my coach Kris Norton. He has guided me to run well on the track and to be a better person off the track. He's more like a father figure to me and I have been grateful to share this incredible highschool journey with my coach. If I have any role models on the track it would either be Mathew Centrowitz or Bernard Lagat
How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?
I only compete in one event which is Discus so that would also be my favorite.
