When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

I started track in the seventh grade.

What is a typical training week like for you?

On weeks we don’t have meets we usually do speed workouts on Monday Wednesday and Friday, recovery runs on Tuesday and Thursday, and a long run on Saturday.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

My main goal for this season is to break 5 in the mile but I would also really like to get personal records in the 800 and 3200.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

The day of the race I like to do everything that I usually do, just keeping everything normal to keep calm. I also like to read inspirational quotes and go over the race a couple days in advance. I use to have a lucky pair of socks that I wore every meet, but now I don’t really have any superstitions.

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

My season’s looking bright. I’ve been training hard and I’m ready to seriously PR.  So far I don’t think I’ll be competing in any out of state meets.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

I would tell younger runners to learn to have fun running and love it enough to want to put all the time needed into it. I would also tell them that all competitors run so to set yourself apart you have to do the little things, not just showing up to practice.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

I truly believe my success is a God given talent.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

My sister is definitely my role model. She started track her Junior year of High School and is now running in college on full tuition. But even more than that, she has an immensely positive attitude and has been the reason on numerous summer mornings that I got out on a run when I would rather be at home sleeping.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in 5 events but the mile is definitely my favorite race.

What are 3 things we don't know about you?

 1. If I could eat only flaming hot, lime flavored Cheetos for the rest of my life I would.  Ok, that might be an hyperbole… but I really love flaming hot Cheetos!

 2. I hated running until my sophomore year of High School.

 3. I have never met someone more inflexible than me (I am about a foot away from touching my toes).

Quick 7:

Favorite Pre-race Meal?

My favorite pre-race meal is oatmeal or peanut butter and honey sandwiches

Favorite TV show or movie?

My Favorite TV shows are Big Bang Theory and Modern Family.

Favorite Meet?

Both the ASU invitational and dual meets at home are my favorite meets.

The perfect temperature to compete in is when it’s slightly cold with no wind.

My favorite song is "Keep Your Head Up"  by Andy Grammer.

Favorite quote/or saying?

“It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great” - Jimmy Dugan.

“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever." - Lance Armstrong
