The first key to doing a lot of different things on MileSplit sites is claiming your athlete profile. We show you how to do that here.
Note: This article, and all other articles assume a couple of things. They assume that you have established a username (registered) on the system and that you are logged in. If you haven't done that yet, go ahead and do it now. In addition, many of the functionalities assume that you are a MileSplit Insider. If you are not an Insider already, you can become one here.
Claiming your athlete profile is the means of giving yourself some control over what appears on your athlete profile. Your athlete profile contains, of course, your library of event results, but it also maintains of running list of where you've been tagged in articles, photos, and videos.
Either a parent or the athlete him/herself may claim an athlete profile. The first step in claiming the profile is to go to the athlete page and click on the box in the upper right corner of the banner that says "Is this you?"
Click on that box and fill in a short form. We use the information in this form to help verify that the request is a valid request. Once your request has been approved, you will have edit privileges on your athlete profile. It's that easy. We will not approve athlete profile requests made through the account of an individual other than the athlete or his/her parent.
After your claim for an athlete profile is approved, when you are logged in and visit that profile page, the green box in the upper right portion of the banner says, "Edit Profile".
I will cover editing your athlete profile in an upcoming installment of the series.
