Triple-Threat Distance 2011-2020 | AZ Boys

To continue our "Tripe-Threat" series, today we have our boys' triple-threat distance runners over the past 10 seasons. The 30 boys who made our list were/are all pretty impressive endurance-footed engineers in their day.

800 M, 1600 M, & 3200 M BOYS

We looked at the top-50 Arizona boy athletes in the 800, 1600, and 3200 since 2011. From there we found out which of these athletes had competed in all three events and hence, we have our list of 30 Arizona boys of the past and present who are triple-threat Arizona endurance machines.

800 M

In the 800 meters, there was the fastest time of 1:50.19 and the slowest time of 1:59.88, with an average double-lap time of 1:56.14 for these young fellas. Seven of these guys ran under 1:54, with an additional twelve running under 1:57.

1600 M

In the 1600 meter race, the fastest time for this group was 4:03.97 and the slowest time was 4:17.40, with an average 8-turn journey of 4:13.30. Six of the boys were under 4:10 and over half of them were under 4:15.

3200 M

In the 3200 meters, the fastest time for these guys was 8:47.07 and the slowest nearly two-mile trip was 9:40.75. 5 of the 30 boys were under the 9-minute barrier with 17 more under 9:20.

The graduating class of 2015 and 2018 had 6 different runners while graduating years 2011 and 2013 had 5 runners each.

The Class of 2016 and 2017 had no one on our list. The Class of 2012, 2019, and 2020 placed 1 person on our list.
