There were sixteen junior boys this season who went under 16:00, which is a pretty good place to be going into one's senior season in 2021. And another twenty-five more junior boys were under 16:30 this season. Many of these top junior boys were in their teams' top-five in 2020, and we would think most will be in the top one to three spots for their respective teams in 2021.
There were two teams with three boys under the 16:30 mark.
Gilbert, who won the D2 crown, had Javier Garcia, Terrence Keyes, and Jefferson Sees all run in the 16:22 or faster and one point or another in 2020. This could bode well for Gilbert trying to defend its title in 2021. The always reliable Thunder boys of
Desert Vista, who took runner-up in D1 this year to Brophy, has Jodon Noah, Gabe Parham, and Ethan Bukowski all go 16:07 or faster in 2020. We will no doubt see them fighting to get back the D1 title with those three seniors leading the way.
