MESA, AZ. -- In his last event in a Marana Mountain View uniform, senior Samuela Hala'ufia ended his high school career on a high note by winning the Division II state title in the boys discus.
Hala'ufia uncorked a monster throw of 191-1 to beat the field by 31 feet (Flowing Wells junior Richard Legarra at 159-11), and defend his state title from last year. He also set a new personal best -- bettering his mark of 188-7 from the Marana Last Chance on April 29.
So far, the 191-1 from Hala'ufia is the farthest throw at The 2022 AIA State Track & Field Championships. Chandler senior Amar Elmore won the Division I state title at 190-08. Division IV and Division III will compete on Saturday.
