Allen & Stepter Named AZ Gatorade Track & Field Athletes of the Year.

Devon Allen and Jaide Stepter were named Arizona Gatorade Track and Field Athletes of the year.

Everything fell into place this year for Canyon del Oro hurdler Jaide Stepter -  with a series of wins and records during her final prep season in Arizona.  The daughter of Olympic hurdler LaTanya Sheffield, Stepter made her own mark with a state record in the 300 hurdles at the Chandler Rotary in March.   Her state record time of 42.18 was broken again at the Arizona State Meet with a new record of 42.01.  Stepter also won the 300 hurdles at the Arcadia Invitational in California in April and the Division 2 long jump championship at the AZ State Meet.

Stepter will be competing for USC this fall.

A junior at Brophy College Preparatory, Devon Allen set his goals on breaking a state record in the hurdles and kept his word breaking the 300 hurldes record once and the 110 hurdles twice.  The string of records started at the Chandler Rotary in March with a time of 13.69.  Two weeks later Allen travelled to California to participate in the Arcadia Invitational.  He was registered to compete in 5 events, 2 relays and 3 individual, and won all 5 of them breaking his own record in the 110 hurdles (13.52) and setting a new record in the 300 hurdles (36.39).  Allen also won both hurdle events at the Arizona State Meet.  Allen is ranked US#5 in both the 110 and 300 hurdles.
