When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

Well I have been running track ever since I was about 8 years old with the Arizona Cheetahs Track Club, but I did not start to hurdle until middle school.

What is a typical training week like for you?

A typical week of training consists of a very hard sprint workout every Monday with technique/weight room days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are usually competition days.

What are your goals for the State Meet?

My goals for State Meet are to compete as hard as possible, finish strong, and come out a champion individually and as a team.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I do not necessarily have any superstitions, but before every race I thank God for giving me the ability to compete and I say a prayer to my Great Grandmother who will always be watching over me.

Do you plan on continuing your season after the State Meet.  If so, which meets will you be participating in?

Yes, I plan on competing in the Great Southwest in Albuquerque, New Mexico, possibly Golden West at University of California Berkeley, a USATF Junior Olympic State Meet and the USA Youth World Trials in Edwardsville, Illinois.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

Do not ever give up on Track, School, Family or Life. And especially for the young hurdlers out there, you have to fall and fail sometimes so you know how it feels to pick yourself back up. That's how champions are made.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

God and my Family for always pushing me on and off the track.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

I have a few role models that are athletes but one that stands out is my teammate Quinn Robertson for pushing me no matter what on the track. but my main two would have to be my Mom, Cynthia Washington, for being such a great mother but also coach. And second my Father, Kevin Mayfield, for checking on me everyday and believing in everything I do.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in about 6 events from the 100 to being a leg on a 4x400 meter relay. But I love both the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles the most.
