When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been pole vaulting:

I first got involved in track at a very young age. I was about 8 when my parents would take me to the All Comers meets over the summer. I first started running club track when I was in 7th grade for Pops Track Club and for Tucson Elite.

What is a typical training week like for you?

A typical training week for me is, on Mondays I will work on 100-meter hurdles. On Tuesday I will work on field events and 300 meter hurdles. On Wednesday I usually have a dual meet where I will do any combination of four events. On Thursday I will have a recovery day where we do circuit training. And on Fridays I will usually have a longer distance workout.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

My goals heading into state is to continue to improve my times and hopefully be ready to pr in all of my events. My goal as being a part of the Salpointe girl’s team is to take the State title for the second year in a row.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

In order to mentally prepare myself for a race I look back at my training and trust that I have put in all the hard work needed to be at my best. I tell myself just to trust my training and to do what I know how to do best, which is compete.

What does the rest of your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

I will be participating in one meet after State called the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which will be held this year in Iowa. I will be competing in the Heptathlon.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

My message to younger runners would be to stay motivated. Track is one of those sports where a lot of pressure is put on the individual because it is only you in the race; therefore you need to stay motivated to keep pushing yourself to the best of your ability. It’s not about what place you come in, it is all about bettering your own personal time.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

If I had to attribute my success to one thing, it would be to everyone who has supported me, such as my family, coaches, and friends. When I compete I just want to show everyone there what I can do - almost as a thank you for always being there to support me.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in 10 different events, but my all time favorite is the heptathlon because it allows me to do the most events possible.

What are 3 things we don't know about you?

Three things you don’t know about me are that my first passion was gymnastics; I always wiggle my fingers before any horizontal jumps, and my favorite thing to do at home is play with my dogs.
