Eight boys broke the 2 mintue mark in the Divison 3 800 meter run and four went under 2 in Divison 4. Travis Okie (Jr., Sedona Red Rock) whose best time in the 800 is 1:55.46 ran a strategic race sitting behind Braulio Lopez (Sr., Rico Rico) for the first lap before a monster sprint in the final 100 meters. Okie's time of 1:56.52 just clipped Lopez's 1:56.67. Rickey Carr (Jr., Higley) was 3rd with a 1:58.10 and Justin Reay (Sr., Camp Verde) was 4th in 1:58.55. Carols Villareal (So., Rio Rico) won the slower heat of the 800 and edge out Reay by .01 for the 4th place spot on the podium.
Daniom Tecle (Sr., Morenci) won the Divison 4 800 in 1:57.86 but not without a fight from Kyle Cajero (Jr., Pusch Ridge) 1:58.86, Josh Hoskinson (Jr., Arizona Lutheran) 1:58.88 and Jerry Sicalo (Sr., Scottsdale Christian) 1:59.10.
Josh Hoskinson went on to win the 1600 meter run with the fastest time from both divisions. Hoskinson's time of 4:20.19 was a 6 second PR.
Mingus Union girls won their second 4x800 meter relay in 9:49.77 with a big boost from freshman Megan Goettl who got the batton in 6th place but passed it off in first place. Scottsdale Prep had the fastest time of the day with 9:46.03.
