When did you first get involved with track and field? How long have you been running:
I first started Track and Field when I was in elementary school. I have always enjoyed running.
What is a typical training week like for you?
I train with sprinters and Coach Barge about three times a week working on aerobic capacity. We also do a lot of abdominal work. The other two days a week I train with Coach Selby working on distance and endurance, it really helps for the 800m and 400m.
What are your goals for the upcoming track season?
This year I would like to place in the top 10 in both my events at the state meet. I would also like to qualify for the Arcadia meet. Another goal is to medal at every invite I run this year. I also would like to help my 4x800 meter relay team place in the top 5 this year at state.
How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race? Do you have any superstitions?
Before every race I like to just lay on my blanket and relax for a few minutes - it really helps to clear my mind and gives me the ability to focus completely on the race. I like to pray before all my races - I ask for safety and patience for me and my teammates.
What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?
I plan on going to Arcadia and I will be participating in the Meet of Champions and the Great Southwest meets after the season is over.
What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?
Pain is temporary, pride is forever.
If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?
I would give all the credit to my coaches.
Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?
Not exactly
How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?
I compete in 4 events, 400m, 4x400m, 800m, 4x800m.
My favorite is the 800m which I just started running last year.

Best thing your coach ever said to you?
He was teaching me how to run the 400 - he told me to get out fast, float the 200 and then at the 125m “Pray to whatever God you want to help you finish”-Coach Barge
