When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

I've been running since the fourth grade and I became involved in cross country and track in the sixth grade.

 

What is a typical training week like for you?

Over the winter I ran about 85 miles a week and during the season I don't anticipate running more the 55 or 60

 

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

I'd love to break our school record of 9:14 in the 3200 meter run and possibly the mile record of 4:17.

 

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I try not to stress too much about a race in the preceding days by just going about normally.  The day before or sometimes the day of I will visualize the race. My only superstition is to not cross a finish line before the race starts (cross country of course).

 

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

I will be competing in larger meets such as the Chandler Rotary meet and the Scottdalele Distance Classic. I may participate in an out of state meet as long as the season goes well.

 

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

Train smart and listen to your coaches.

 

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

I would attribute my success to my family. Without them none of this would have been possible.

 

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

My coach is a great role model and mentor which stems from his own experience with the sport.

 

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races ..... the 3200 is my favorite race.

 

What are 3 things we don't know about you?

  3. I have one cat who lives in Oregon.

 

Best thing your coach ever said to you?

"Good job"
