I first got involved in track my freshman year in high school. I have enjoyed running track from the very first high school season.

What is a typical training week like for you?

During a typical training week, my 400 meter dash team and I complete mid-distance workouts to the best of our abilities. I do my best to push myself during workouts, to better prepare for races.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

For the upcoming track season, I am very hopeful to obtain a 55 second 400 meter dash PR. In addition to this, I believe my 4x400 meter relay team has a good chance of competing for the state title. Lastly, I will test out my abilities in the 800 meter race.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

Though I do not have any superstitions, I prepare my body for race days by eating healthy foods and staying hydrated. I also try to keep a positive attitude for each race.

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

This track season will be challenging, as our team is now competing in Division I. However, I will continue to work hard and do my best in each race. Our team will be competing in a California Arcadia Invitational, which I am very excited about.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

For younger runners who aspire to be at the top, I would encourage one to look up to experienced runners, yet retain a sense of motivation to be the best that one can be.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

I would attribute my success to my determination. Once I set my mind to a goal, I will do everything in my power to obtain it.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

In track and field, I have many role models, whether they be my own teammates or other high school runners. Each runner is talented in some shape or form, and I enjoy reflecting upon others’ strengths so that I may too encompass the best of myself.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in four events (the 200, 400, 4x400, and 4x100), while my favorite event is the 4x400. I enjoy the team coming together to compete against other talented athletes as a group.
