When did you first get involved with track and field?  How long have you been running:

I got involved in track in 6th grade. I joined the middle school track team just for fun.

What is a typical training week like for you?

Most training weeks consist of a hard track workout, another workout usually off the track, and a long run. Between those days we do recovery runs.

What are your goals for the upcoming track season?

I want to finish up my senior year with a solid track season and improve from last year. I would also really like to go under 9 minutes in the 3200.

How do you prepare yourself mentally for a race?  Do you have any superstitions?

I just try to stay relaxed before my races. I also always retie my shoes right before the start.

What does your season look like and will you be competing in any out of state track meets during the season or post high school season?

I will be competing at Arcadia in California this season. I’m considering doing a post season meet or two, but I’m not sure of the details right now.

What message would you tell younger runners who aspire to be at the top?

Be patient and trust your training. Improvement comes slowly, but if you stay committed then all of those little steps will add up to something big.

If you had to attribute your success to one thing, what would it be?

I would attribute my success to all the support I get from family, friends, coaches, and teammates.

Do you have role models or mentors in track and field?

My coaches and teammates are always pushing me to do better. I have really learned a lot from them.

How many events do you compete in and which event is your favorite?

I compete in the 1600m and 3200m. My favorite is definitely the 3200m.
