When did you get started as a running:
I started Go the Distance, a club running team, in sixth grade.
Which meets will you be running this year?
Our meet schedule this year is changing a lot from my freshman and sophomore years. I think we’re running the Peaks Invitational, Woodbridge in California, then Twilight, State, and Nike Southwest.
What are your goals for the upcoming track season? What do you look forward to the most?
My main goal is to be a good team leader since we have a lot of new freshman and also to run some PRs! I’m looking forward to being in some new meets this season that we’ve never gone to before.
How is your summer training going? Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?
Summer training has been going well, even though everyone travels a lot we always have a group of people at practice and ready to go. I still love easy days but one of my other favorite workouts is two thousand meter tempo loops because they make me work really hard but we break them up so they go by really fast.
Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?
I occasionally go to the gym but I’m terrible at swimming and biking so it limits my cross training.
Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?
I try to eat pretty healthy but no I don’t follow a specific nutrition plan.
Have you ever been injured?
Yes, I actually broke my foot on a trail run last January and missed all of preseason. Luckily the bone healed quickly and I didn’t need surgery so I was back running with my team by mid-February!
So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?
Last year we ran in the Ray Wherley meet in Prescott and everyone did really well so it gave us the confidence booster we all needed after some stressful races early in the season. Also Twilight is always one of my favorite races.
What is the best part of running?
The best two parts of running are finishing a really hard workout and getting to see my best friends everyday at practice.
Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?
One of the best running accomplishments I remember was breaking the 4x800 state record for youth girls the summer after seventh grade. Anything I accomplish with my team is so much more special plus it was probably the only 4x800 team I will ever be on haha.
When you are not running what do you like to do?
When I’m not running or doing homework I love being with my friends on the team or from school. Even if we’re just watching movies or driving around it’s more fun to be together.
How have your coaches influenced you overall?
My coaches influence my running so much and they’re very supportive even if we don’t agree on things 100% of the time.
Shout outs?
I’m giving a shout-out to everyone on my team cause you guys rock and I love you all. Lauren Kinzle gets a special shout-out for being one of my oldest teammates and best friends!! And to all the seniors that just graduated, I’m going to miss you more than anything and I can’t wait to visit you all in college!
