With the 2014 cross country season just around the corner it's time to start our "Watch List" highlighting the top returners. Senior Adeline Montgomery from Highland is our next Watch List athlete.
As the season starts we will continue to add athletes to the list.

When did you get started as a running:
7th Grade, at South Valley Jr. High
Which meets will you be running this year?
All of them, hopefully
What are your goals for the upcoming track season? What do you look forward to the most?
I’d definitely like to break 19 min for 5K and get in the top 15 at state! The thing I look forward to most during the season is eating my body weight in spaghetti our pasta parties!
How is your summer training going? Your favorite workout? What kind of summer mileage do you run?
My summer training has been going really well, I’ve been getting a lot of miles in! About 40 miles a week! And my favorite workout would have to be the 800 circuit we do every Wednesday!
Do you cross train (lift, swim, bike etc)?
I do some cross training, like lifting, in my dad’s sports training class.
Do you follow any kind of nutrition program or watch what you eat?
I eat a lot of fruits and granola bars and things during the day to keep my body fueled with nutritious things during the day and I drink lots and lots of water so I feel good during practices/meets.
Have you ever been injured?
No, thank goodness.
So far in your high school career, what is your favorite cross country race or cross country memory?
My favorite race is definitely Twilight! I love the fun atmosphere and I love that it’s at night and it doesn’t hurt that I PR there every time! I think it’s the best race out of the entire season!
What is the best part of running?
Stopping. And becoming super close to my team!
Out of all your running accomplishments so far, which stands out the most?
Last cross country season when our girls team won Conley Invite! I didn’t even think we placed and then the announcer called our school for first place! Needless to say, we were all shocked and tremendously happy!
When you are not running what do you like to do?
I like to take really long naps, watch Netflix, hang out with my homies, you know, the usual.
How have your coaches influenced you overall?
They’ve all influenced me in such great ways! I love them all so dearly and I appreciate them so much! Except for that Coach Monty guy…he’s just crazy…
