Valley Christian senior Lauren Ping, then with Desert Vista, in last year's Girls Sweepstakes race at The Desert Twilight XC Festival at The Links Golf Club in Queen Creek. Ping won the race in 16:40.40, which beat out Dani Jones' previous all-time state leading mark of 16:42.98.
