Desert Vista senior Lauren Ping, then a junior, at the 2021 Desert Twilight XC Festival at The Links Golf Club in Queen Creek. Ping won the sweepstakes race at Desert Twilight, running the 5,000-meter course in 16:40.40. That time ended the season as the seventh-fastest in the United States for that distance. Ping is the defending Division I state champion in cross country.
