4thAnnual Sentinel Invitational

Saturday, April 24th, 2021

Hosted by Seton Catholic Preparatory High School

Seton Catholic Preparatory High School will be hosting its 4thAnnual Sentinel Track and Field Invitational on Saturday April 24th, 2021. This meet will be for a few smaller high schools at this time. If you did not receive an invite and would like to attend, please send us an email.

**Visiting School Volunteers**

With the reduced entry fee this year, we are asking each visiting school to provide at least one (1) adult or student volunteer to help in the various field events. Link to volunteer sign-up below:

Entries:

  • Each school will be allowed three (3) entries per individual event and one (1) relay team.
  • Please have your student-athletes names spelled correctly in both Athletic.net and MileSplit.

Entries DEADLINE:

  • Entries need to be entered on AZ Milesplit no later than Wednesday, April 21st, by 9:00 pm.

Heat Sheets

  • Heat sheets should be available by 3:00 pm on Friday, April 23rd.
  • Scratches will be allowed and will be assumed if they don't show up for their event when called.
  • If you are substituting an athlete, make the change at the check-in tent prior to the event or at the field event when that event begins.
  • We will not ADD any athletes to the meet - please don't ask after the deadline has passed.

Admission:

  • $10 per person - ages 12 and up
  • Spectator attendance may be limited due to COVID protocols

Facilities

  • 8 Lane All-Weather 4-Year-Old Track
  • 2 Long / Triple Jump Pits
  • 1 High Jump
  • 1 Pole Vault
  • 1 All Weather Surface Javelin Runway

Scoring and Awards

  • This is a State-Qualifying meet for ALL divisions and will be scored
  • Event to be electronically timed by Mr. David Shapiro - Chandler HS
  • The top eight places will be scored as 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
  • Medals will be awarded to the top three athletes and relay teams in each event
  • Medals will be placed in an envelope and handed to the coaches at the end of the meet.
  • Team trophies will be given to the top Girls and Boys teams.

Track Events:

  • All track events will run as finals (heats against time). Reasonable effort will be made to keep same school athletes separated in lane races but not be possible if times are similar. Fastest heat will run last.
  • Sprint and Hurdle events (100m, 200m, 400m, 100/110 and 300 hurdles) will start and finish in same lanes.
  • Distance events will use a single or double waterfall start depending on the number of entries.
  • Track athletes must check in with the clerk of the course in the middle of the football field to pick up HIP Numbers. Throwers and jumpers will check in at the event.
  • Boys track races will go first followed by Girls.

Long and Triple Jump:

  • All athletes will compete in open flights. If an athlete needs to leave to compete in another event, they must check out with event judge.
  • Each athlete will have four jumps.
  • No reverse runs or runs in the non-legal direction during warm-ups will be allowed on horizontal jumps, pole vault, or javelin runways. Please ensure your athlete is prepared for this. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!

Pole Vault:

  • Starting height for boys 7'1" and girls 5'7"
  • Starting heights may be changed by the meet director which will be communicated at the coaches meeting.
  • A second warm up time period of ten minutes will be allowed for athletes who enter the competition at an exceptional height. The head pole vault judge will determine the height at which this warmup will take place.
  • If an athlete needs to leave for another event, they must check out with the event judge.
    • NOTE: When they return, they will have to jump at the height the bar is at upon their return - High Jump and Pole Vault. The judge is not allowed to go back and reset the bar to a lower height.
  • No reverse runs or runs in the non-legal direction during warm-ups will be allowed on horizontal jumps, pole vault, or javelin runways. Please ensure your athlete is prepared for this. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!

High Jump:

  • Starting height for boys 5' 1" and girls 4' 1"
  • Starting heights may be changed by the meet director which will be communicated at the coaches meeting.
  • If an athlete needs to leave for another event, they must check out with the event judge.
    • NOTE: When they return, they will have to jump at the height the bar is at upon their return - High Jump and Pole Vault. The judge is not allowed to go back and reset the bar to a lower height.

Shot, Discus and Javelin

  • Athletes will compete in flights.
  • Each athlete will get four throws, no finals.
  • Hog line WILL be established to keep the event moving. In the event a hog line is set up, those competitors whose first three throws do not reach the hog line, their 4ththrow will be recorded.
  • No reverse runs or runs in the non-legal direction during warm-ups will be allowed on horizontal jumps, pole vault, or javelin runways. Please ensure your athlete is prepared for this. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!

NOTE: The schedule below reflects a 14 -16 team invite. If we are able to add more teams based on COVID restrictions, then these times will be adjusted accordingly.

  • 7:30 a.m.- Javelin Weigh-In and Warm-Ups
  • 8:00 a.m.- Javelin begins
  • 8:45 a.m.- Coaches Meeting
  • 8:30 a.m.- Implement Weigh-In
  • 9:30 a.m.- Field Events begin
  • 10:00 a.m.- Running Events begin

Field Events - Throwing

  • 8:00 a.m.- Boys / Girls Javelin - Flights TBD based on entries
  • 10:30 a.m.- Boys Discus / Girls Shot - Flights TBD based on entries - Hog Lines to be used
    • DISCUS WILL NOT START UNTIL JAVELIN CONCLUDES - TIMES ARE ESTIMATES
  • 12:30 p.m.- Girls Discus / Boys Shot - Flights TBD based on entries - Hog Lines to be used

Field Events - Jumping

  • 9:30 a.m.- Boys & Girls Long Jump
  • 9:30 a.m.- Girls Pole Vault
  • 9:30 a.m.- Boys High Jump
  • 12:00 p.m.- Boys & Girls Triple Jump
  • 12:00 p.m.- Boys Pole Vault
  • 12:00 p.m.- Girls High Jump

Timed Finals: ALL RUNNING EVENTS ARE SCORED ON TIMES - NO PRELIMS.

  • 10:00 a.m.- 110m / 100m Hurdles - Finals
  • 10:15 a.m.- 3200 Relay (4x800) - Boys / Girls

  • 11:00 a.m.- 1600 Meter Run - Finals
  • 11:30 a.m.- 400m Relay (4x100) - Finals
  • 11:45 a.m.- 400m Dash - Boys / Girls - Finals
  • 12:15 p.m.- 300m Hurdles - Finals
  • 12:45 p.m.- 800m Run - Finals
